The women in the adult entertainment industry are some of the most hard-working and talented people that you’ll ever come across. One woman that will make you go crazy is the talented Carmela Clutch. She’s looking to accomplish it all, and she wants to deliver every single time the camera is rolling. We’re very excited about Carmela’s future, and you’re in for a wild ride with Carmela Clutch!
When did you decide to get into the adult entertainment industry?
Carmela Clutch: Honestly, porn fell into my life when I picked up a personal assistant job on a whim before leaving for the Peace Corps. I quickly fell in love with the industry and the idea of working for myself… Armed with an education in marketing and advertising, I choose to forgo my planned trip to the Peace Corps in China for that of a life a pornstar (which I’m still working on. but I’m loving every second of this journey).
Did you have an idea of what you wanted to do when you first started or did you just take anything that came your way?
Carmela Clutch: From the jump, I knew I was a little different from most girls starting out. I’ve always been a fan of BDSM and hardcore, so I immediately wanted to jump into those kinds of scenes. It’s been a bit of a challenge forcing myself to ease my way into this industry the way that I have. I feel like I’m a stronger performer now, and I’m grateful I have taken some time before those kinds of roles because I feel much better prepared physically and mentally for the demands they require.
What was challenging or difficult for you when you entered the industry?
Carmela Clutch: I think for most people, the most challenging thing is that there is no set recipe or path to becoming a porn star—what works for one person won’t necessarily work for someone else. For me, the most challenging thing about coming into the adult industry has been getting taken seriously as a performer while having natural curves. I’m loved for my curves by fans, but the industry is still catching up. It’s hard for me to get roles as a young adult or coed. Because I have hips, tits, and an ass, which I’ve had since adolescence, so it seems crazy to me that I’m only cast as a MILF or older woman.
Do you remember your first scene? If so, how did it go, and what were you thinking before and after?
Carmela Clutch: Vividly. My first scene was with Facial Abuse. I remember getting prepared the night before (watching their previous scenes, doing yoga, mentally preparing for some of the jokes they could’ve hurled my way in an attempt to get a reaction). After my scene, I remember thinking, “well, that went well.”
I had managed to laugh my way through the whole scene. Every slap enticed a bout of hysteria because I went into that scene with the mentality of “haha, you can’t break me.” After that, I remember thinking the guys were really nice and surprisingly respectful, and if I could complete that intense of a scene with that much tenacity and passion, I could really do this as a profession. I’m told the scene did “numbers” only to be topped by my second scene.
Were you received well by others in the industry when you started?
Carmela Clutch: Surprisingly, yes! I’m only shocked because growing up, I definitely wasn’t much to look at. I was a thick, timid nerd from a small Miami suburb. Everyone in the industry has been so kind and encouraging. It’s humbling to be around such amazingly talented, diverse, and accepting like-minded individuals.
What type of scenes do you enjoy doing the most?
Carmela Clutch: Anything that allows me to flex my acting muscles! I just did a few scenes for Bang Bros and Bang! Reality that required me to act, and now I definitely caught the bug. I’m excited to channel my real-life experiences into my roles and performances.
Do you have a wishlist of companies, performers, etc. that you haven’t worked with, but would like to?
Carmela Clutch: EVERYONE! I’d love to work with Evil-Angel, Brazzers, Reality Kings, Mofos, Kink, Pure Taboo, Wicked. As for other talents, Ricky Johnson, Abella Danger, Adriana Chechik, Alex Coal, Misty Stone, Angela White, Derrick Pierce, Manuel Ferrara, James Deen.
Are there things that you won’t do in the industry or that you will turn down without question?
Carmela Clutch: Anything that has to do with blood, scat, or suspensions involving piercings. I’m also not fond of watersports, but I think I’d be fine peeing on someone else, just not getting peed on.
Since being in the industry, what moment or experience sticks out to you the most?
Carmela Clutch: Once, I ran into a female fan who was so shocked to have met me and even more shocked when I offered to take a set of sexy pics with her for her boyfriend. She was so excited and happy it, and that made my day.
When you’re not working, what do you like to do?
Carmela Clutch: I’m somewhat of a Jill of all trades—I sing, read, write poetry, paint, jog, hike, cook, practice yoga, and train in Krav Maga. I love binging on movies and TV series. Also, I masturbate…a lot.
How do you balance your work and personal life?
Carmela Clutch: It’s actually pretty easy when your personal life is your work life. I rarely have time to keep in touch with friends and family back home. Fortunately, I have a fantastic support system of people who understand the time and dedication necessary to accomplishing my current goals. They’ve seen first-hand the amount of growth I’ve achieved the short time I’ve been in the industry and encourage me to pursue this endeavor like any other I’ve faced in my life, with tenacity, passion, and a friendly, can-do attitude!
What do you wish more people would understand about you?
Carmela Clutch: I’m a nerd… just a normal girl who’s never been quite normal.
In recent years it seems as though the adult entertainment industry has been respected more in the mainstream media. What do you think it’ll take for the industry to get the respect that it deserves finally?
Carmela Clutch: As much as my profession is starting to become destigmatized, I still know a lot of young men and women who can’t get reliable healthcare, medical treatment or don’t get taken seriously when they seek professional counseling. They are often ignored by the masses, or their issues are written-off because of how they chose to pay their bills. Until the biases of the everyday person are alleviated, the people who work within my industry sadly won’t get the respect we deserve.
It is my belief that as trending content-driven platforms emerge and become a more prevalent source of income for the masses, people will hopefully begin to ease their (often unmerited) biases against sex workers.
Imagine you’re at the end of your career. What do you want your legacy to be, and how do you want to be remembered?
Carmela Clutch: If I could be remembered as anything, I’d like to be thought of as the next Dr. Ruth Westheimer, but the adult version. I hope people remember me as a caring, helpful, informative nerd with a heavy freak streak. At the end of the day, that’s who I am, your “Horny Homegirl.”
What can people expect to see from you in the future?
Carmela Clutch: More diversity in my body of work, more scenes with acting among other genres of porn. I’ll definitely step further into BDSM, as well as showing my softer and more passionate side. Fans can expect to see me amp up my MILF-y tendencies, as well as playing into my DDLG kinks.
