In recent years we’ve seen a boom in webcamming, and more of an online presence by adult entertainment performers. One performer has had the “it” factor since entering the industry, and has never let up in terms of creating quality content for people to enjoy. Brielle Day is a once in a lifetime performer, and it would be hard-pressed to say that someone does it better than her.

When did you become interested in the adult entertainment industry?
Brielle Day: At 18, I joined a burlesque dance troupe where we performed at private parties and eventually accepted gigs that required full nudity. I fell in love with the art of the tease and seduction right off the bat. A few years later, a close friend told me about webcamming and that I could perform similarly on webcamming sites. I was getting burnt out on all the late nights that my dance troupe demanded, so I made an account that day, and the rest is history!
Did you know what kind of performer that you wanted to be, and what type of content you wanted to create before you got started in the industry?
Brielle Day: When I first started webcamming, I did not create any content and only focused on live streaming. It took about four years until I finally began making clips. I really didn’t know what style I wanted to create initially, so I tested out performance art, stripteases and eventually produced more hardcore content. After testing out all the styles, I now love performing as characters and really getting into scripts.
What was challenging or difficult for you early on in your career?
Brielle Day: The stigma of the adult industry is always challenging to deal with early on for most performers. I had trouble hiding my job from others because I’m naturally a very open person, but I worried that people around me would judge me negatively. Eventually, I started to see that this job was something I loved, and I wanted to make it into a career. So, I decided not to worry about the backlash of my job so much and really try being the face of the industry and help normalize sex work more.
Was the industry helpful towards you when you were brand new, or did you have to figure out everything on your own?
Brielle Day: Joining the adult industry and starting my own brand and business was truly a learning curve for me. While there were forums (AmberCutie) and helpful videos on the Internet, I really needed to experience and learn everything on my own to be able to form my own true brand identity. I was able to apply my college degree to some aspects of the job (like sales, marketing, customer service, etc.). Still, there was a lot more to learn in terms of social media, filming production and editing, costume design, live streaming etiquette, and more. The industry and what’s popular is ever-changing, so there is always something new to be learned!
Was there anything you did better and made you stand out from other performers when you entered the industry?
Brielle Day: My fans have told me that I have always made them feel welcome in my chatroom, with a cheery personality and smile. I have always tried to do things a bit differently and not focus 100% on sexual content or hardcore live shows, but more so have made sure to establish a sense of community around my genuine, goofy self. I always try to make my audience laugh and smile, forgetting the day’s hardships—I’ve always been complimented on this, versus some performers who focus entirely on hardcore content.
What type of content do you enjoy making the most?
Brielle Day: I love creating content where I get to perform as another character. Whether it’s roleplay or cosplay, it’s so fun and unique to plan a detailed script and get into a brand-new state of mind. I feel like I can also explore my sexuality more and try new things when becoming another character. Putting on a wig or costume takes me to another time and place and makes my creativity soar.
You’ve been in ManyVids Magazine multiple times, graced the cover of AVN’s CAMStar Magazine, and have won multiple awards. How does it feel to be recognized in the industry, and how important is fame and notoriety to you?
Brielle Day: Awards aren’t everything, and neither are fame and notoriety, but it does feel nice to be recognized for my hard work and dedication over the last 10 years. I have poured my heart and soul into my brand, and when another company wants to work with me to help promote my work, my heart soars. I feel like I truly belong in this industry and am working towards something great. Receiving or being nominated for accolades makes me believe I’m on the right path.
What are some things that you would still like to accomplish in the industry, but haven’t yet?
Brielle Day: I would love to work more with bigger brands, speak on panels, and work within the award shows. I’ve done mostly online work since starting in 2011, but I would really love to work and network more with others in the industry. Also, of course, winning an award would be amazing! I have been nominated, which is equally as cool, but taking home a trophy would be the icing on the cake!
When you’re not working, what do you enjoy doing?
Brielle Day: I work about 12 to 15 hours a day, so the rest of the day is focused on doing housework and just relaxing with my friends, family, and pets. I also love watching movies, cooking, hiking, visiting theatres and museums, and traveling.
What is an unusual habit or an absurd thing that you love?
Brielle Day: I swallow my gum. Don’t judge me (laughs).
In the last five years, what new belief, behavior, or habit has most improved your life?
Brielle Day: I have changed drastically in the last five years, and I would say I have learned more to “go with the flow.” I am a Type A person where I constantly need a schedule, to-do list, and am extremely organized. I used to get upset if my plans went awry, but I learned to just roll with it.
What advice would you give someone that is about to enter the industry? What advice should they ignore?
Brielle Day: There is limitless advice I could give, but I would say do your research. There are tons of articles, forums, and workshops that teach you what it’s like to be in the adult industry and how to get started. You really need to be a go-getter to succeed in this industry, and doing your own research is the first step! As far as what advice to ignore, don’t ever let someone, whether it’s a fan, producer, or fellow adult industry professional, push you into doing something you are uncomfortable with. Stand your ground and follow your head and heart.
What are bad recommendations you hear in your occupation or area of expertise?
Brielle Day: I’m in a few networking chat groups and have seen those new to the industry using their real name and/or giving out their personal contact information to fans because it’s easier than hiding it. One of the number one rules in sex work (especially webcam modeling) is never releasing your private information, no matter how well you think you know someone. Please be safe and use your best judgment when speaking to strangers on the Internet.
In the last few years, what have you become better at saying no to?
Brielle Day: I regularly get requests to create custom content for fans. I used to say yes to every script that came to my desk for fear of missing out on a sale. These days, I only take on the roles that I know I will enjoy, or my fans will enjoy. I know my comfort levels extremely well now, as well as what I enjoy sexually and business-wise, so it’s easier to say no!
When people see or hear about you, what do you want them to think?
Brielle Day: I’ve always been a business-minded woman and love when people read about me or see me and give me compliment my business expertise or how I’m an independent badass woman. Beauty is everything in this industry, but brains, hard work, and determination take you so much further.
What can people expect to see from you in the future?
Brielle Day: I’m continuing to be the best that I can, and really blow my brand up. I have goals set to expand my live streaming schedule, create new and unique content, and build a brand-new website. Stay tuned! It’s going to be an amazing next year!
Keep up with Brielle Day 24/7
